Been reading up on naval combat ad&d 1e, bemci and pirates of the fallen stars plus the 3.5 srd, I could use some suggestions on where to take this. Then work into a pirate adventure / campaign where you could play either side.

There hasn't been much discussion although I think some of the PBP on this site has involved naval battles. But in the discussions this is pretty much all I found ...

Yes we have no catapults?
The rules list the trebuchet and the onager, but I don't see the the trebuchet being
that easily mounted on a ship.

A naval combat supplement would have to address ship-mounted weapons separately. Don't depend on the core rules in that respect.

The core rules essentially are in sync with the other and older rule sets as far as waterborne movement goes, now I have to do a rough outline and keep it simple.
