Ack. Okay, so I re-read the 0E books, and discovered my scholarship was a bit lax. The traditional combat rules were presented as an "alternate" system in Men and Magic (0E book 1) while the "alternate" (same word) system from Greyhawk added weapons vs. armor type and variable weapon damage.

So Delving Deeper probably really is a "true" retro-clone of the three book "white box" game. My apologies to any DD fan who might have read my previous notes.

But on the other hand, I find that most of the rest is as I stated it; the spells, for instance, have Chainmail-compatible durations.

Just pushed a new version to the website:

Announcing!

Iron Falcon Rules Release 5 -- February 14, 2015
Spells up to Feeblemind are detailed now, and I've added the healing rules which someone on the forum mentioned; I think I did a little bit of monster work as well.

Solomoriah wrote:The first version of D&D to hit the market, the three books,[...] Greyhawk [...] What's funny to me is that there are no retro-clones I can think of that attempt to replicate that game.
In a way that would be similar to the game Holmes was trying to introduce new players to with his Basic Set, or the as-yet unpublished simulacrum BLUEHOLME™ Compleat Rules. Of course, Holmes also added a lot of his own interpretations, intentionally or just because of his reading of the original rules, not to mention the oddities that were grafted on by the TSR editors at the same time that AD&D was first being written. That makes Holmes and BLUEHOLME™ not quite a straight reflection of the original 3 LBBs + Greyhawk.

So there does seem to a gap in the line-up - well-spotted, Solomoriah! By the way, have you mentioned this on the OD&D Discussion forums?

Um... no. Where would I find those?

Announcing!

Iron Falcon Rules Release 6 -- February 15, 2015
Spells up to the letter H are done, and I've started on the magic item tables in the Treasure section. Plus a couple of formatting adjustments have been made and random bits here and there have been added.

Heh. Second compliment I've had on that. I took most of the text from the SRD, amending it to adjust for the removal of the good-evil axis. So I can't even take (much) credit for that part.
