Chapter 5: All Aboard the Ark-Ari

Re: Chapter 5: All Aboard the Ark-Ari
Maju continues reading the runes on the wand.
Re: Chapter 5: All Aboard the Ark-Ari
This seems to have resolved itself. The crown is gone, because the dragon takes it and flees the scene almost at once. Treasure and hammerhead sharks remain below. Several of them swim close to the monk, almost as if guarding him.
Now what? So you dive for the remaining treasure, or move the ship on? It is morning. The mage will be spending much of the day working out how to use the wand. (If he has Read Magic memorised that might help.)
There is still the matter of a brass bottle that was in the chest, too.

Re: Chapter 5: All Aboard the Ark-Ari
We released something tainted back into the world. This may come back to haunt us, unless the dragon buries it even deeper.
Rostam is not very interested in either the treasure or the bottle.
OOC: do I remember correctly that we basically have nothing left to eat? In that case, should we spend the day fishing? Not the sharks, which YC seems to have befriended, but maybe some less personable fishes?

Re: Chapter 5: All Aboard the Ark-Ari
The food situation is this:
The crew may catch enough fish to eat on any normal day while sailing, and survive.
When you go ashore things may be more tricky as you currently have no rations aboard the ship (any listed on your sheets already is an exception).
You are still at the wreck site and the dragon has gone. What do you do?

Re: Chapter 5: All Aboard the Ark-Ari
We should bring up the treasure as we may need to trade it for supplies.
YC will dive for it.

Re: Chapter 5: All Aboard the Ark-Ari
Maju *does* have Read Magic memorized (he cast it to read the wand a few posts ago). Maju is also in favor of bringing up as much of the treasure as is practicable if that's what the majority of the party wants.
Regarding the bottle, if the party is willing to wait, Maju can learn Detect Magic for the day to determine if the bottle or its contents are magical. That might provide some clues.

OOC: ok, just wanted to know if we need to set aside time for foraging.
Rostam is not much of a swimmer but will help to pull things aboard with ropes if the others want to collect the treasure.

Re: Chapter 5: All Aboard the Ark-Ari
It doesn't look like a clear answer on if you leave or get the treasure up.
In the meantime I can at least assume that the mage is having a good look at the runes on the wand.
Maju casts Read Magic and the wand is revealed to be a Wand of Cold!
Wand of Cold: This wand generates a conical blast of cold doing 6d8 damage (save vs. Magic Wands for half damage). The cone spreads from the tip of the wand to a width of 30' at a distance of 40' away.
Charges left - unknown, but probably about 10 on average.
I need posts from the rest of you guys before we move on.

Re: Chapter 5: All Aboard the Ark-Ari
I say we definitely try to get the treasure.
Re: Chapter 5: All Aboard the Ark-Ari
Much of the rest of the day is spent diving for treasure.
There are no encounters, which is probably very fortunate as the characters underwater would have been quite vulnerable. There is absolutely no sign of the dragon.
You find a total of 5000gp worth of stuff which will take a further day to clean. You also find 3 more of the brass bottles. You now have 4. They all contain liquid.
Maju does not seem to have Detect Magic learned for this day so the casting of it on all the treasure will have to wait until tomorrow.
By the day's end, Jaali is feeling quite strange. Not like he has been posioned, or is becoming ill, but, he has an odd aching feeling in his legs and arms.
It is 6pm. Do you do anything this evening? Unless I hear anything from you in the next day or so (real time) I will assume that you wait out the night in your current location and then start the next day afresh and ready to move on.
