Getting more than a little bit edgy, Will asks some questions about the cave walls, just enough to keep him as part of the group at this table, but not enough to miss any opportunities to slide over to the other table. He'll try to get info on the totem and any other 'artifacts of value' the good doctor may have. There may still be something to the totem he thinks, but I've got to insinuate myself into that group, at least before it's time to retire. At the first opportunity Will will excuse himself from this table and sidle on over to the card table. He'll look for a break in the action, or better yet if there are points in time when someone is 'out' of the game - whether until next game or next round. That person becomes Will's new best friend.Solo wrote:He watched the men playing cards; he wasn't sure what they were playing, but they seemed to be having a good time of it. Even ignoring Monday, every man at that table had plenty of money, of that Will was sure. How to get some of it, that was the question.
If his new best friend is someone he hasn't met he'll introduce himself and then: "This looks like an interesting game, I don't think I've seen it played before. What is it called?" And he'll launch into a discussion on game mechanics and rules and strategies. Once he's at the table, he'll try to talk to them all as they go 'out' or otherwise feigning interest in wanting to learn how to play the game. Otherwise he'll keep a close watch and ear on the game to try and pick up any useful information that he can use at later points. But he will take a chance, if needed, to try and talk to at least one of the folks in that group. If I'm more aggressive perhaps that'll get me into the game quicker... though I got to keep my eye out for that crewman. Damn, that kind are usually easy marks, I'll have to keep an eye out for him, for many reasons. He'll ramp down if he notices anyone else 'noticing' him.
