The Basic Fantasy RPG Core Rules are available in print on Lulu.com.
Visit the storefront at:
http://www.lulu.com/basicfantasy.
NOTE HOWEVER that we are approaching the release of Basic Fantasy RPG 2nd Edition.
This is not a huge change... in fact, the rules are about 99% the same. However, much new artwork
has been contributed, many typographical and formatting errors have been fixed, and new information
has been added to some of the monsters. If you are planning to purchase a print copy, you might
wish to wait until the new edition is available. But don't worry... you can get a complete copy
of the rules in PDF from this very site!

Also, I have recently joined the NearbyGamers.com website.
I recommend it as a way to meet players and GMs interested in the game. If we all join,
we should all be able to find each other! On
NearbyGamers.com,
as on other sites, I am known as Solomoriah. Join me there!
Fandomaniacs has reviewed Basic Fantasy RPG in their podcast #5 from November 13, 2007, and it
seems that Rob liked it. More importantly, I got the feeling listening to the podcast that he
really "got" what we are trying to do here. To listen to the podcast, or any of the other
good Fandomaniacs podcasts, click the banner below:
What Is Basic Fantasy RPG?
The Basic Fantasy Role-Playing Game is a rules-light game system
based on the d20 SRD v3.5, but heavily rewritten with inspiration from
early RPG game systems. It is suitable for those who are fans of "old-school"
game mechanics, and it's simple enough for children in perhaps second or third
grade to play, yet still having enough depth for adults as well.
Curious? Take a look at the sample character sheet (click here).
Or, read the introduction story, collected from the rulebook.
What Does It Cost?
Nothing. You can download the PDF files or the original OpenDocument (i.e. OpenOffice.org)
files from the downloads page at no charge. Or, you can
purchase a print copy from my storefront
at Lulu.com, where I have published the rules at my cost. That's right...
I don't make a single penny of profit from the sale of the printed copies.
I'm a believer in sharing. Some have expressed the opinion that I'm a fool not to profit
from these rules, or the supplements or modules; but I have a job already, and it pays my
bills. I'm not sure there's enough demand for this game to make it worth the effort of
selling. But more than that, I'm committed to sharing. If I profit from the game, I enrich
myself (cash) and a few who purchase (enjoyment). But I give it away, and I thus enrich
many (myself, with a warm glow of generosity, and many others with the enjoyment of playing it).
