Re: Tips for a new BFRPG DM? Starting a campaign on Roll20.

My first run was a great success. The five players all managed to cross a river in the dead of night and the middle of winter, almost without drowning. They made it to the other side, fought there way through waves of enemy troops, took a small encampment as a massive battle raged throughout a city....

Tips for a new BFRPG DM? Starting a campaign on Roll20.

Hi, So I've finally figured out Roll20's system (Mostly) and am going to try DM'ing a BFRPG game on there. Mainly I like the simply rules lite system that gives me the flexibility to run my gameworld how I like and its so open to modulation that I can change and tweak to fit my campaign world which ...

Re: Misc. Ideas

This is what I've used (a lot of the terminology is specific to my campaign world, but it's easy to change) All land in a Kingdom is owned either by the King and Queen or by one of the extended family of the King or Queen Or by various notable members of their society and their underlings as well. ...

Re: World without Clerics?

Haven't tried it on a world scale, however, I have had a group that did not have a cleric and instead had to rely upon their Holy Fighter (aka Paladin) for the little bits of healing that he could deal out. Notable, I also had a Holy-Cleric who was quite adept at the healing when required. Nice thi...

World without Clerics?

After reviewing a lot of the material, I was curious if anyone has any experience of just having the Quasi-Class "Holy Character," on top of another class to serve as the worlds healing ability? And perhaps holy characters can gain spells from the Cleric spelllist ect?

Proficiency Bonus alla 5e style?

Apologies if this might be a dumb question, BUT..... As I port my setting over to this edition I am wondering how much effect it might have to give players a Proficiency Bonus as in the way characters in 5e get one. As characters level their proficient bonus goes up which is added to things like att...

Re: Creating a Human's only setting?

Creating a human-only setting is no hard task, you can even ditch the human XP bonus. Depending on how much mechanical differentiation you want to have between characters you can give each "origin" a quirk or bonus depending natural or acquired abilities. Currently, I am thinking some sor...

Re: Creating a Human's only setting?

There is also Maze & Minotaurs and Barbarians of Lemuria that might suits your campaign. But yeah, I think that BFRPG would fit the bill too. If your players like a lot of choices when generating a character, it might be a good idea to give them small boons according to origins of give them acc...

Re: Creating a Human's only setting?

I have run a human only campaign. It wasn't planned like that, my players just all wanted to be humans, so we did not ignore race. Not to push you away from BFRPG, but have you taken a look at RuneQuest? It's a percentile system that has a Greek Mythological theme behind it, and a grittier feel to ...

Re: Welcome to the Basic Fantasy RPG Forums!

Hey everyone! Basic Fantasy RPG so far seems to be the perfect ruleset for my campaign world. While I am not exactly someone knowledgeable about "Old School," D&D (Far too young) and 3.5 and beyond is all I know, I've been hunting for a long time for a simple, less rules heavy edition ...
