Re: Why do you love Iron Falcon/OD&D?
It was always my intent to maintain the vagueness; Simon Bull helped me see where I was failing at that. And yet, I got complaints about my sketch of how to do initiative (something basically missing from the original books) being "too much." I can certainly see how that might concern som...

Re: What defines an "adventure"?
In my campaigns it's generally a specific goal everyone is working towards, although it can be rather loosely defined and sometimes I'll spontaneously determine a sufficient milestone has been reached. A current example is that the main adventure my players are on is to slay a Zombraire who is causi...

You guys are fast! I literally just found out about this and came here to tell everyone but it's being taken care of already. Amazing.

Re: Question about Glain
Yep! Especially with ancient historians like Herodotus. If we assume the "lore keepers" of fantasy worlds like Glain are as misinformed, biased or "creative" as some of these historians, it explains a lot.Solomoriah wrote: ↑Fri Feb 16, 2024 11:59 am Seriously, unreliable sources explain so much. In the real world too!

Re: Question about Glain
Not related to Glain, but for my own personal campaign world whenever a player brings up a discrepancy in the lore, I lean into the "unreliable narrator" trope. Clearly one of the two sources was mistaken! Shoddy penmanship or something...

Re: General Statement on Artificial Intelligence
I don't have a horse in this race and I completely respect Chris' views and policy on this, but it's worth noting that the animators who worked on the original Tron movie weren't nominated for VFX awards because they used computers to generate the effects. It's something to consider about how new te...

Re: Combat questions, fallen monsters/diagonal combat
If I'm using a grid, it's mostly just for visualization, for my own convenience and that of players. Usually only in larger combats with multiple participants. I like to err on the side of letting them close the distance if that's their wish and it's within their Movement Rate, so no penalties for d...

You're right! I knew it sounded like a great idea. It's because it's the actual rule lolSolomoriah wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 3:56 pm Guys... differences in levels are literally baked into the spell description... no ruling needed.

Re: Can DISPEL MAGIC end a WALL OF FIRE?
To add to what's already been said, I feel like it makes sense that the relative levels of the competing Magic-Users would matter here. Are they the same level? Is the Wall of Fire user significantly stronger, or is the person attempting to Dispel Magic ? I feel like that might make a difference, su...

Re: What range and how often can a Cleric use turn undead?
Range: None is given, line of sight is a common rule of thumb. I defer to the media that inspired the game in cases like this. Dracula turns away in horror from Val Helsing's crucifix when it's shown to him. I imagine it's a mixture of line of sight and proximity, but we don't want to over-complica...
