Re: Checking for wandering monsters in dungeons

If it were a group session, I toss a d6 in a bowl for every “turn” of exploration and then whenever there is a lull in the action I scoop up the dice and check. That way it’s more of a tempo thing. If the party is low on resources I may not throw a battle at then and give them something strange or i...

Re: Additional classes in print?

Inspired by Sol’s Glain Companion, I have also done the same and made a House rules compendium with the classes and features I like. Literally one of my favorite things about BFRPG is moving all the little rules and supplements around like Lego pieces to create the best game experience for various p...

Re: NPC Party questions

I bet most parties would seek to negotiate quickly once it looks like they have bit off more than they can chew.

Re: Four Adventurers enter into Morgansfort

No worries.
Nobody gets all the rules right.
I think it’s part of the joy of the game.

I have fond memories of my younger self throwing all kinds of wild stuff from movies and books into the game and when in doubt just winging it, rolling dice and if the numbers sounded good calling it a success.

Re: Movement and spell casting

Out of curiosity, in a mounted battle, can a spell be cast after their horse has moved?

Re: Is there a special rule set for how or when a cleric is capable of making Holy Water?

I like treating it as a magic item of equivalent value to that of a healing potion. If one is common in the campaign, the other should be equally as common / uncommon. Side note: I allow characters to coat their weapon in the stuff. One weapon or three units of ammunition. Successfully wounding an u...

Re: Magic/Mana System?

A 3rd level Magic user can cast 2 1st level spell and 1 2nd level spell Each 1st level spell gives 1 point while the 2nd level one gives 2 points (each slot gives its spell level in points) The points per level and the max spell level casteable would be: Spell Points.jpg This is the best way of doi...

Re: Magic/Mana System?

Thank you. I saw the mistake in my post and fixxed it: 3rd level wizard has 2 first level spells = 2 spell points 1 second level spell = 2 spell points for the level 2 spell. Total Spell Points = 4 spell points. They can now cast: two second level spells a day (2 points each) a second level and two ...

Re: Magic/Mana System?

A super simple method is grant spell points based off spells known. Each level of spell known is worth 1 spell point, 1st level spells are worth 1 point, second level worth 2, etc... So a third level wizard with 2 first level spells and 1 second level spell has four spell points. Castings spells cos...
