The Earthsea Quintet actually. The fifth book is often sadly forgotten. I would consider that series to be a masterpiece of its time. One of my favorites. I listen to a wide variety of alt and prog rock bands when I'm working on my adventures.

Middle Earth is one of the most detailed fantasy worlds of all time. I'll give you that.

I just want to say that I agree wholeheartedly with Solo's view on magic resistance. It is not a good mechanic at all IMO.

I know of what you speak. I have relatives in the northeast who observe such traditions. I have heard many wonderful things about Spaetzle, but sadly, I have never gotten to try it.

Lords of the Rings is decent work, but there are other writers and series out there that I enjoy reading more. To name some: Susan Cooper, Lloyd Alexander, Ursula K.
