Re: Share your GM kit

You've given me some ideas on how to improve the mailing tube I'm using for my Chessex mats. I'm not sure about the bleach, but it does indicate how hard to clean those mats can be with just water. With the right pens, it's not really hard. The bleach spray is diluted just a little stronger than th...

Re: Monster Attributes

Usually they just have the armor class and attack bonus. For saving throws, you often use the same numbers as for a fighter of the same level. For intelligent monsters, you can use the reactions chart on page 50 of the core rulebook if there is some uncertainty how monsters might react or if the par...

Re: Boxed Text and Bullet Points: Room 16 of the Old Island Fortress

Here's an example of how i use both: Box text for the essential information, Bullet Points for things that will come later. This is a Star Trek style adventure I'm writing, but I think the formatting could work for rumors in a tavern just as well. My own writing presentation style is always evolving...

Re: Damage Dice and Levels

One thing to consider as well: would NPC opponents and monsters get the same damage dice. That would make things much more lethal for the party as well. Maybe another option would be to JUST give fighters the damage dice at certain levels (maybe 5 and 10, depending on how long your campaigns run). A...

Re: Hit points

I've used CON score as starting hp, then go from there.

Alternatively, start them at level 3.

All that said, I recently played a Magic User with 4 hp. She hid behind a child during one of the battles.

Not my proudest moment, but she made it. The kid did too.

Re: A Dark Awakening

Funny you should ask about art... I'd like an interior piece depicting the all-important potions. From the adventure: You watched as the man put a cork into a small empty clear vial, then inserted it into a sort of large leather wallet or case with a flap that folded over the top; the wallet seemed...

Re: Player Facing Dice Rolls?

Here's one approach: -Take the opponents total attack bonus and add 10. That now becomes the number to beat -Take the PCs' armor class (including the dexterity bonus) and subtract 10, that's now the bonus for their defense roll. I tried this for a while in my online game. I loved not having to roll ...
