And that's how we get an R34...

Announcing!

AA2 Adventure Anthology Two, Release 34 -- January 19, 2022
One change courtesy of GrimlinJoe and a bit more format hammering has led to this new, hopefully "final" print release candidate. Keep your fingers crossed...

Did a quick consistency pass and found that the following monsters were missing asterisks next to their name:

page 11 - Ochre Jelly
page 49 - Green Slime
page 50 - Wererat
page 51 - Gargoyle
page 95 - Lich Priest

There were also a few related errors:

page 29 - Succubus missing ‡ symbol next to AC

Page 65 - Rust Monster shouldn't have an asterisk as it still takes (half) damage from normal weapons. Other monsters who take half damage don't have this. If this is an error then it's also an error in the core rule book.

Rust monster gets the star because it leaves you unarmed after taking half damage.

The others are actual errors, and will be resolved. Gah.

OKAY, so, did some studying and realized there is a philosophical issue here (really).

The asterisk after the name of a monster in the Monsters section of the Core Rules, and in the Field Guides, is intended to help the GM with monster selection. It's not required in the individual entries in an adventure; generally it signals a tougher monster due to weapon resistance, but that's literally marked on the same line after the AC value. Putting it in the adventure text is an unnecessary and frankly kind of messy thing, and I'm pretty sure I don't usually do that in my own text.

I feel like it should be omitted across the board for consistency. I mean, what good does it do there? If you've made it into the dungeon already before you realize a monster is too tough, it's kind of too late.

Agreed, Solo. I've found the missing double-dagger a few times while prepping entries for AA4.
Along with the Core Rules and Field Guides, I luckily also included the asterisk on the names in the Monster Index.
So it looks like just the missing double-dagger for the succubus on p. 29. I know that itself doesn't warrant a new print release candidate (or even us posting a new release yet), but we'll def. include it for if more errors are found and we need to do a new release and print release candidate.

Just started reading version 34.
A matter of justice is missing a map.
On the download page, the links are reversed. The ODT dloads the pdf and vice versa.

Shane, are you talking about AA2? AA3 is nowhere near R34 yet.
