As the creator of Caneins, my opinion is that they are wholly unrelated to Kobold. Dog-like features of the new concept Kobolds are just a superficial similarity to Caneins.

Caneins were inspired by (and a homage to) my own long gone white boxer named Darla. I imagined their origins as magically altered dogs given humanoid stature. Think "Island of Dr. Moreau" but just dogs. In order to add some variety, especially after artist Cory Shonuff Gelnett gave great images, I expanded the idea to a variety of smashed-face sorts of breeds... so in my mind Pugs, Bulldogs, Boston Terrier, Frenchie, etc all fit that sort of look.

That all said, I fully expected alternate concepts to come about, especially since my own lack of artistic ability to capture what was in my mind. I expect others to see them differently.

I welcome new ideas or interpretations from others on Caneins (or really any of the other ideas I presented). They make a fun race to play.
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?

You you think Boggo's suggestion that they're mistaken for kobolds is fair/warranted/interesting? I kind of like the idea.

It gives you some character motivation, some possible comic Hijinx, and even chance for tragic misunderstandings, things that always make a GM's toolkit more powerful

The license page for FG1 says
Bog Crone, Heucova, Odeum, Skeleton (Crimson Bones), Tentacled Horror, Wogg, Worghest Copyright © 2014 Ross Williams
It looks like wogg was removed and re-added and then removed again?

What's the barghest is a combination of an earlier barghest and the submitted worghest.

The Wogg from the credits if I'm recalling right is the Wug, it changed names after being summit it.

As for the barghest/worghest

Thanks. I hadn't found the wogg/wug rename. I was mostly thinking about making the attribution match the content.

Is this the right place to mention typos and such?

Page 17's Chelonian entry:
Inhabiting rivers and swampy regions, a Chelonian is a
race of reptilian humanoids bearing resemblance to longnecked
snapping turtles. Is it normally content to remain
within its own small societies, but on occasion a more
adventurous individual...
I believe it should say "It is".

But maybe that was already caught in the SRD rewrite.
