This map is really, really nice! I look forward to seeing it finished!

Looks better than my crappy map ;) if up to me I wouldn’t even add grid lines on these, but that may be a requirement...

I think we do need grid lines.

I did a draft of the second part last evening and there are a few spots that will need consideration. I've marked the most obvious areas.

The elevation issue will probably require a small adjustment of the map. It could e.g. be resolved by adding a short 1 square corridor at the bottom of the middel stair/ramp(?) similar to the uppermost stair in this map.

BTW, I also manually added grid lines in the XCF file. That was a pain to do and they don't align up 100% (though pretty close) with the map

They are in separate layers, and grayed using opacity so they should be fairly easy to adjust

It's still at

Here is the second part of the tomb

The full XCF can be downloaded from

I basically just did the modifications I though looked best. The grid lines was still the most annoying thing to add.

I have not added any symbols indicating secret doors, trap and the statues. A lot of that would be hidden by the walls anyway. Though it could be possible to add something where most required.

Let me know if you feel something must be added or changed.

Does anyone beside me think it might be helpful to have both a top-view and an isometric map for each of these levels? Throwing together a top-view map for each would not take that long in MapMatic.

Yeah, even if just to get some clarity in how rooms connect. It's absolutely gorgeous as it is, though. I think a "real" map might be overkill. A mini-map top-down just to show the basic layout would probably suffice.

How about breaking this up into smaller "sub maps" and insert these close to the description of the rooms? Something like

together with description of room 1-5 and

with rooms 6 to 11 etc.

Having a big map for overview is nice but it's just much easier to read (and run) adventures when you don't have to flip through pages to find maps.

I've noticed that this is a pretty common trend in newer modules.

It does, of course, produce even more layout/formatting work.

I think we'll need full-size maps, for those who want that style for playing the adventure, and maybe either don't like isometric maps at all or just prefer top-down period.
