House rules for carrying capacity

Post by solvebring »

Hi!

This is my first post and my first attempt on written house rules for Basic Fantasy. It started out with me getting frustrated on how to manage equipment and encumbrance. I've never liked the classic ways of it, since adding pounds to pounds, discussing what's worn or carried, looking up tables, etc. is way to slow for such a simple thing. And no, I would never dream of throwing it all out, since recourse management is way to relevant for old school dungeon gaming – you should not be able to carry as much as you want; you should run the risk of running out of important equipment such as torches, food, arrows, etc.

So, asking around on the Internet, asking for suggestions, and looking into other games with quicker systems for such, I wrote this short PDF to cover it.
