Alternative Resolution Mechanics

Post by Blorpy »

There are lots of ways to resolve checks relating to abilities/skills/contests, and the topic has been debated to death on various forums.

Here's how I do it. Hopefully this will be useful to someone out there! :D

Good stuff, Blorpy! I love roll under, though not sure if that just brands me as a "get off my lawn" type.

Thanks! I’ve found these mechanics make things fairly fluid, though your mileage may vary.

I’m not opposed to roll under in theory, but I know it’d confuse some of my gaming group as they lean more casual. I’d play with any set of mechanics in someone else’s game though. Your home brew resolutions could involve a deck of playing cards, guessing a number between 1 and 10, or drawing numbers out of a hat and I’d still roll with it
