Music to listen to while adventure planning
Has anyone got any good tracks I can listen to while designing my adventures. A half way point between ambient and bombastic would be nice (already got a few two steps from hell tracks)
Re: Music to listen to while adventure planning
Do you have Spotify? I've put together a decent playlist from there...

If you don't have it.. Its free (with some ads between songs)
I wouldn't install the actual App because it doesn't like to just close. I use the web player which works just as well without being all pain in the ass-like..

Re: Music to listen to while adventure planning
Obviously I'm old... most of my go-to adventure planning music is old, so I must be.
Alan Parsons Project: Ace of Swords (always makes me think of a chase across a desert wasteland on horseback.)
Oleg Serkov: Way of the Warrior, The Vision, Black Wings, sometimes Cosmic if I'm in that kind of mood.
Edgar Winter Group: Frankenstein
Joe Satriani: One Big Rush (also a great piece of music to speed... uh, drive... to), Back to Shalla Bal, one or two others I've forgotten.
Note that those are all instrumental. Very rarely do songs with lyrics work for me... the words get in the way of my creative thinking.

I share this aspect of music with lyrics with you. Just distracts too much.Solomoriah wrote:Note that those are all instrumental. Very rarely do songs with lyrics work for me... the words get in the way of my creative thinking.
I generally go the way of classical or musical scores for my background stuff. I use Pandora much of the time (luckily, my wife pays for an account so I run Ad-Free), and my favorite 'channel' is one called "Spooky Symphonies" which seems to have a pretty good mix of music that is favorable for gaming background mood stuff.
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?

Re: Music to listen to while adventure planning
I like listening to Mogwai or other post-rock bands when I'm working on my campaign or writing adventures.
Re: Music to listen to while adventure planning
I also prefer soundtracks or anything else without lyrics. My speakers (whether at home or work) tend to play Myst, Riven, Deus Ex and Deus EX IW, Mass Effect 1-3, etc. I've also added more acoustic guitar playing from Andy McKee and such.

Yeah instrumental stuff would be best but I don't mind a few choirs to mix it up XD. Some of the ambient elder scrolls music seem pretty cool too but yeah I will add some of this stuff to my play list.
