Re: Miniatures
I remember trying to paint my first minis with enamels. That did not go well. Then there were Ral Partha paints. We thought they were amazing because they had names like "Undead Flesh" and "Demon Red." They were not amazing, but we made them work. I bought Vallejo and Army Painter sets for my kid, recently. They seem wonderful, with incredibly fine pigment. Hope to get back into the hobby one day soon.
How are some able to post images of their figurines here?

Do I see a 3d printer youtube video coming in the future John?

Re: Miniatures
Thanks so much. I'm going to try the clean, cooler bed first. I have some painter's tape as well to add to the experimentation. But may have to go to the PEI if it's still frustrating me.Solomoriah wrote: ↑Wed Jan 25, 2023 11:19 am I paid $63.00 for a magnetic PEI-covered bed plate. I can pull it off the printer and flex it to free a part, then just drop it back on the magnetic sheet. But for you it's be under half what I paid, as I have an Ender 5 Plus (big bed). PEI releases the PLA when it cools, sometimes, but holds it while it's hot. I did have to change to non-marring tools because I don't want to damage the PEI sheet; I haven't found a cost-effective replacement source yet.
Thank you, I REALLY appreciate it.

You want to click the "Attachments" tab below the message box. Once your image loads, click "Place inline." Smaller jpegs work great.Destroyer45 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 25, 2023 11:35 am I remember trying to paint my first minis with enamels. That did not go well. Then there were Ral Partha paints. Oh . . . attachments tab. Let's see how this works . . . .
Back in the 1980's, I was serving aboard U.S.S. Ranger CV-61—just another spoiled kid with too much free time on his hands. I did a bunch of these. I made dozens of oak bases at a wood shop on base. They just let me walk in and use the router. I'm lucky I still have all my fingers.

This is great! Glad you still have those fingers to keep on painting.Destroyer45 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 25, 2023 2:17 pm Oh . . . attachments tab. Let's see how this works . . . .

Re: Miniatures
I'd like to present you my take on the whole mini thing. I never got many minis since they are very expensive and take too much space in my rather small house. I instead opted for wooden meeples.
I took me a bit of time to assemble my collection, but I now have dozens of different types. They're a great solution if you're on a budget and wanna play with a battle grid. You can get a set of 100 meeples (10 different colors) for 15$ off Amazon. You can then slap a small numbered label on each one an call it a day.
They come in many shapes and sizes and I was able to get larger ones for ogres or troll and even larger ones for giants. Some even come with designs. I got many different sets from Amazon, but also from my local gamin store that sells them by the piece as replacement for lost board game pawns. Got some on Etsy as well for animals/weirder shapes. I have six plastic organizer boxes full of them and have pretty much all the shapes I'll ever need, all for a bit less than 200$.

Re: Miniatures
Meeples are great. It's supposed to be a product of your imagination anyway! I often just print out paper standees for specialty monsters. For online, one can make any token imaginable for free.coureur_d_bois wrote: ↑Wed Jan 25, 2023 5:07 pm I'd like to present you my take on the whole mini thing. Thanks for sharing the image. Now I gotta go price meeples online.
