ACK. A TIE.

So I must cast the tiebreaker vote.

Tomorrow. Tomorrow I will announce the winner. I feel I must re-read both frontrunners before casting a vote.

I antagonized over this very choice.

I would like to thank everyone for voting. I know that Solo has an extremely hard decision to make. I enjoyed all the entries.

Also if Cryanhall or anyone else that missed the deadline for the competition still has their work, please share with us. We're sorry you missed out on the voting, but that doesn't stop any of you from sharing your work for all of us to enjoy.

Yes, please vote for Zewlac!
A vote for Zewlac is a vote for Our Children's Future!
This simply cracked me up. Love the slogan.

Same sentiment here. I appreciate both of the votes Farin's Folly got (and neither was my own). I enjoyed all the entries and was amazed to see what variety of adventures this scenario spawned. Best of luck to the two tied front-runners. Solo indeed has a tough choice ahead.

Hey, I tied! Woo hoo!

Why do shoe laces never win the race?

They always tie.

Alright, folks, this was a hard decision. I sat down this morning and re-read both adventures from end to end. Both share several distinctions, including multi-layered threats, deceitful NPCs, and interesting and engaging backstories. I re-read them, as I say, and then I spent my day doing other things while the gears of my subconscious ground through them.

At the end of the day, literally in fact, I arrived at my choice. I was swayed by a few things: First, that the author of my selected winner had actually made an interesting use of the odd entranceway to area 33, even involving a "special" in the adjacent room. I dropped that nonsense in there just to see if anyone was paying attention. The author also used a monster I would have probably never used otherwise, a creation of Omer Golan-Joel, and used it in a way that I'm sure would please Omer. Finally, and most importantly, I was swayed by a feeling that my selected winner would be fun to run at the Quincy Mall Monster Mash next weekend. To be fair, both frontrunners would be a blast to run there... I just feel that my choice has the slightest edge in that arena.

My choice: The Children of Zewlac by Kyle Hettinger.

Kyle, please send me a PM identifying your Paypal account, so that I can send you the prize money. If you need to create one first, I'll wait, just let me know.

In a few days I'll upload a compiled version of The Dark Temple, with the adventures in the following order:

The Children of Zewlac by Kyle Hettinger
The Horror Within by Russ Robinson
Three Days Of Peace And Music by Sean Wellington
Temple of the Seas by Alan Vetter
Farin's Folly by Clinton L. Robison
Descent Into Culwich by James Lemon

Anyone who was working on a key for this dungeon but did not make the deadline for the contest may still submit their version for inclusion in the final module; they will be added in the order received, at the end (naturally). I don't want this to go on forever, so please, if you have intentions of submitting a key, please do so before December 1st.

Congratulations to Kyle, and thanks to all who participated!
