2E BFRPG vs 3E

Can anyone summarize the major differences between the 2E core book and the 3E core book?

I have a copy of both and am wondering if I will hit any major snags using the 2E book for session prep (that way I can keep the 3E book handy by the gaming computer instead of hunting around for it every Thursday night).

If this has already been discussed to death, and you can point me to the right thread, thank you in advance.

I don't have links handy but from what I can remember reading the scattered bits on the forum, it is mostly typos and layout editing that is the main changes between the two. Solomoriah has commented many times that 3rd edition is backwards compatible with the older editions.

Sorry that I can't be more specific but Chris or someone more knowledgeable will drop in and answer your question.

Thanks so much. I suspect the differences are minor, but was curious. Heck, you could use almost any old school or OSR product and still be pretty close.

Elves are allowed to become Thief/MU combination class in 3rd edition, it wasn't so in 2nd edition.

This comes from memory rather than form investigation, so, these thing could have not been changed at all:

3rd edition includes the errata from the forum and from ironsfoot and a better layout
Some monsters where imported from the Field Guide (and removed from there)
Some magic items where added
The way negative levels/energy draining works where modified

Thanks, those are good to know, especially the level draining. Thanks for taking the time to respond.
