Thank you to everyone involved in writing BFRG

It's been a really long time since I ran any RPG, and I was looking for something easy to bring my son (just turned 8) into imaginative play. BFRG is so far a smashing success, and having all this content available for free just makes it so much easier.

So, sincerely, thank you to all the people involved in this project. I look forward to many years of gaming with my son :D

Yes, it is always fun to hear about first adventures by someone so new to gaming.

This. Definitely curious to hear how it all plays out (pun intended).

I horribly cocked up the first scenario, but the wife and son both are hooked. Now all I need to do is to write a scenario better suited to lvl 1 players :D

One thing (not original to me) is to consider having just one monster, kind of like the TV show Supernatural or something. One werewolf, one troll, one owlbear is plenty for a first level party. Give them some chance to investigate and question the townsfolk, maybe there's a trap at the entrance to the lair. Sometimes I'm surprised at how little I really need to run a session.

And then build on it for the next session. Maybe they capture the werewolf and are willing to seek out a cure (in a dangerous forest or tomb, of course). Maybe someone else is paying the troll to keep folks out of a local forest or deserted tower. Make the townspeople sympathetic so the players want to help them out (with the option to keep any gold they find!)

Just my two cents.
