Miniature Painting
Re: Miniature Painting
Picked up this monster at Dollar Tree, tried to make him into a balrog sorta monster.
Mixed results on this one, but he'd still be a great baddie at the table.

Re: Miniature Painting
That's a cool monster. It looks dangerous and like it's got magma for blood! Very cool!

He's ready to rumble! Thanks for the good words.Francisco-art wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 1:15 pm That's a cool monster. It looks dangerous and like it's got magma for blood! Very cool!
I did the best I could with a dollar toy.

Re: Miniature Painting
Neat! It looks as though it could be an elemental creature of some sort, and certainly a formidable foe.

Re: Miniature Painting
Thanks Sir Daggerford. An elemental is a good idea too. Could paint him in a rocky color, maybe like the Thing.Sir Daggerford wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 1:19 am Neat! It looks as though it could be an elemental creature of some sort, and certainly a formidable foe.
Thanks again for the kind words.

Re: Miniature Painting
There is a tradition of turning plastic creatures into bona fide monsters.
This thing has tiny horns, robust claws, a muscular body and a somewhat skeletic midsection.
How tall is it, compared to your other figures?

Re: Miniature Painting
It's about 4.5 inches tall, so definitely not to scale for the regular little figures.

Re: Miniature Painting
So, it's like 12 feet tall?
Re: Miniature Painting
I found these knight and gnome characters at Dollar General about a couple years ago (pre Covid). They were even painted already although the knights could use a touch up. Here they are compared to my characters to show size comparison. I'm going to use them as Giants. I didn't get mates for the Cloud or Storm Giants but the others did have some mates. I got a bunch of them so when I get a chance to do "Saga of the Giants" I'll have the minis already. The Cloud Giant is holding an Axe, I would count it as a Great Axe, the Fire, Frost, and Storm Giants have swords (Great Swords). The Hill Giant is holding a Hammer (Maul). The Stone Giant has a spade (Mattock).

Thanks for sharing, Al! Were these cake decorations or in the toy section? (just so I know next time I'm at the Dollar Tree.)AlMan wrote: ↑Tue Apr 13, 2021 7:59 pm Giants 1.jpgGiants 2.jpg

I play 99% online, so minis are more of an occasional indulgence for me. Still nice to have for those rare FTF games (much rarer since March 2020. Boo, 2020, Boo!!!)
