Monster Saves

Post by loup_garou_gras »

Apologies if this has been asked, but I was wondering how you all handle the saves for the improved versions of humanoid monsters. For instance the Orc or Goblin warriors, Chieftains etc. all have higher HD than their base counterparts. Do their saving throws improve or do the retain the base 1st level Fighter save because "they are a just a Kobold". Also, do the spellcasting versions (Shamans and Witches/Warlocks) save as spellcaster or fighter? Thanks for any clarification.

An Orc saves as a Fighter 1, so an Orc Chieftain should save as a Fighter 4.

Monsters' saves are based on their HD number, so, if you increase theyr HD their saves may increase as a result.

Normally monsters saves as Fighters, but if a monster resembles more to other class you can rule it as saving as that class

An Orc Shaman with HD3 would save as a Cleric 3.
