So, characters of two of my players die quite often and I thought it would increase our fun if I allow new characters for these players to have some portion of the previous character's XP
The thing is, we don't know what this portion might be to keep thing fun, but challenging and to keep things from turning into "Oh no! Anyway..."
Anyone tried this?
Leftover XP for new characters
Re: Leftover XP for new characters
I have often let characters be rolled up with half the XP of the dead character. This lets the new character not be too far behind while still being quite a setback.
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?
Re: Leftover XP for new characters
I also thought about 50%
But what if they change classes so level 1,5 wizard becomes level 2 thief? So be it?

Yep... the opposite would be true for dead thief and intended to be be a MU next time around. It works out.

Re: Leftover XP for new characters
Yes, the XP amount does not change, only the class selected. I would remove the 10% human bonus from the final value tho.
My group also use the 50% rule (although for a different game), if the pc is replacing one from the same player the XP is that of the "retired" pc, if its for a newcomer, 50% of the character with the lesser XP amount.
Sorry for any misspelling or writing error, I am not a native English speaker
