I wouldn't call this a sketch or an attempt. This is a great finished image!

Re: Ebonbenter Tor
Hi there, I added a bit of shading to my drawing of the Uncanny Sorcerer and his lizard.

Re: Ebonbenter Tor
I love all the pieces that I've seen. Hopefully they can all find a home in the publication!

Re: Ebonbenter Tor
I have honestly have yet to start my take on the sorceress, so I don't feel like I can say much. BUT I do really like this smoky concept for the uncanny sorcerer(I also think your inking is coming along super nicely).
Since I have been wondering about this with my own works, I am wondering. When/if the image is printed on half a page to fit in the column, will the smokiness be harder to see (when printed) because it is all the same color? It is kind of hard to conceptualize this guy in general because he is invisible... but I do think this is a fantastic solution to that problem!
Best of journey's, fellow adventurer.

Re: Ebonbenter Tor
I'll be brutally honest here... I have to retouch almost all the art I receive, in order to get good prints. Some artists work in grays, and I really need the darkest part black. In other cases, like the Uncanny Sorcerer above, the gray background will have to be brightened to page-white or it will print "muddy." A good color print wouldn't need this, but black and white prints do and for reasons I prefer to work with black and white interiors.
This is not to say that I want my artists to do anything differently. Retouching takes moments, and I have to do it anyway to get the scale and resolution matched to the page. I don't expect anyone else to know how to do that, so it's not like it's a big deal or anything.
