Re: Chapter 9: Darkest Before The Dawn
Seems like the best decision is to head up river. When they get a ways away and depending on if they can tell if the enemy is getting closer, Tommy will ask Simon if he thinks he can cross the river to get back to the ship. If the enemy does not seem to be catching up and Simon thinks he can make it, then after they have traveled a bit they should attempt to swim back across. If the enemy seems to be catching up Tommy will decide what to do then, lol.

Simon follows behind Tommy the best that he is able. He thinks he can swim back across if they get some separation, but it won't be a fast crossing.

Re: Chapter 9: Darkest Before The Dawn
Tommy and Simon moved quickly yet quietly through the sparse trees and grass, keeping low to prevent their silhouettes from showing against the sky. They could hear, from time to time, the sounds of pursuers every bit as swift as they were; as Tommy pulled ahead and seemingly disappeared, Simon began to feel that he would not get away without a fight.
Finally, though, he realized he had been going for some minutes without hearing any sound behind him. He was out of breath, trying hard not to pant or cough and give himself away. He made his way to the river and slipped in as quietly as he could, and swam slowly out into the current. He would have liked to have been able to swim beneath the surface, but he was too breathless to attempt it, so he kept his head low and tried to swim quietly.
He practically ran into Tommy shortly after climbing out of the river. Neither man knew how far they had gone... it had seemed like miles, but surely that was just an illusion of the darkness. They stopped to take stock of the situation... should they continue upriver, or had they already overshot the dirigible?

(OOC: is the forest think here? or thin like near the village with the sub?

"I think we should move strait away from the river until we find a thick tree line then turn left and follow it until we find the path to the clearing with the morgana. If we miss it we will just keep following teh tree line as it turns back away from the village then opens into the clearing."

"I think we should move downstream and follow the woods. Eventually it will start moving away from the river and we can find the path back to the morgana."

The woods are thick on this side of the river. However, there seems to be a trail ahead of you and just a bit to your right, visible as a river of stars between the blackness of the trees. The trees seem rather close to the river, making the going look rough (though, as dark as it still is, you don't know how far in either direction it would be difficult... might just be a few yards).

Tommy is going to suggest to Simon that they should follow the trail and move quickly. The trail may not lead to the ship but might lead to the friendly village. Unless Simon has any better ideas Tommy is going to get onto the trail and start moving. If Simon follows he will start moving as quickly as Simon is able. If Simon has better ideas then he will listen to them quickly and make a decision. Tommy wants to spend little time standing still so he will start walking toward the path while they are talking.

Re: Chapter 9: Darkest Before The Dawn
Tommy and Simon moved as quietly as possible through the dark jungle. Several times they heard noises... Large animals? Pursuing natives? They didn't know, but they grimly moved forward on the dark, twisting trail.
They stepped out of the treeline onto the savanna just as the sun broke over the horizon somewhat to their left. Looking around, Tommy saw the dirigible anchored low in the trees a mile or so to the right; it shone brightly in the morning sun. Below the dirigible, Tommy saw a crowd of figures encamped.
.........
Sunlight streamed through Will's window. He awoke, rather unwillingly. He could hear voices in the corridor outside the room.
.........
Repeated to get everyone up to speed...
Sullivan tried several times to strike up a conversation with Artie during the trip downstream, but finally gave up. The sun was just rising as the boat pulled out of the trees, startling Artie, who discovered he had fallen asleep. Ahead, on a low rise above the river, was a village rather similar to the Dalar village; but the most interesting thing was the deck and conning tower of a U-boat in the river beside it.
.........
And as of now, we are in sync. I'll start Chapter 10 shortly.
