Re: Season 2 - Episode 4: The Warren
Doughbert checks the door for traps, if it is trapped and he will attempt to remove the trap. Then he will scurry back to the middle of the pack.
Re: Season 2 - Episode 4: The Warren
Paladin collects the four scraps of fig paper from the undiseased corpses.
"Corpse"
Doughbert inspects the door carefully [rolls], but can find no trace of any traps. He gives Gannicus the thumbs-up, and returns to his position in the middle of the party.Hywaywolf wrote:Doughbert checks the door for traps, if it is trapped and he will attempt to remove the trap. Gannicus tries the handle on the door - it's unlocked. On Leo's signal, he flings the door wide open to give Leo a clear shot with his bow.
The area beyond the door is unlit. From the limited light available, Leo can see no sign of movement. The party shuffles forward cautiously, just through the doorway, to make the best use of the light from Benoni's lantern.
You find yourselves in another room - approximately 30' E-W x 50' N-S. There are bracketed torches along the east and west walls, but they have burned themselves out. Scanning the room you can see a dozen sacks, four large chests, three barrels, a side of pork and, perhaps predictably, three more bloody corpses. The sacks have been slashed and their contents, grain, is spilling on to the floor. The chests also appear to have been forced open and emptied, as have the barrels.
[Rolls]
Suddenly, Gannicus, Paladin and Tannen all notice that one of the "corpses", one lying slumped against a barrel in the centre of the room, is moving. Worse, it appears to be levelling a crossbow at the group ...
Roll for Initiative (only Gannicus, Paladin and Tannen may act initially)
Paladin initiative (1d6 + 3): 3 + 3 = 6
"Corpse" initiative (1d6): 6
Tannen initiative (1d6): 3
Gannicus initiative (1d6): 2
Actions for Round 1 please ...
I've updated the marching order to reflect Leo's new position at the front of the group:
Leo: HP 5/11
Nivek: HP 8/11. Spells remaining: no 1st level; four 0th level.

If Doughbert can see any of this he will call out, "Try to take him alive!" If he can't, he won't say anything.

Paladin plugs the corpse with an arrow from his shortbow while squealing "Wight! Wight!"

Re: Season 2 - Episode 4: The Warren
Tannen stands his ground, not wanting to charge into the shadowy room, but whips the hand axe from his belt and hurls it at the 'corpse'.
Exchange of Fire
Paladin and the bloody "corpse" fire simultaneously. The corpse is only 25' away, so it's short range [Paladin: modified "to hit" roll: 23 hit! for 4 damage]. The crossbow bolt from the corpse misses the party by quite a margin.Iain_IF wrote:Paladin plugs the corpse with an arrow from his shortbow while squealing "Wight! Wight!"
As Paladin's arrow finds its mark, your adversary slumps, dropping the crossbow, apparently dead.
Leo: HP 5/11
Nivek: HP 8/11. Spells remaining: no 1st level; four 0th level.

Re: Season 2 - Episode 4: The Warren
Paladin will take sufficient steps into the room to allow others to get by him and then prepare to shoot the other dead as well.
Re: Season 2 - Episode 4: The Warren
"What the Forge is going on up there?!" exclaims Nivek as he strains to see around his comrades to the area ahead.
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?
Re: Season 2 - Episode 4: The Warren
BTW, I forgot to mention, there is one other exit from the room - a door in the southern wall. It's slightly ajar (6" or so).
