"Where else would I go?" she asked, frowning. "Besides, I trust you and your friends to deal with all this madness. Harald is getting impatient, though. It's frightening to anyone to have trogs and... worse things, living in your cellar. Do you think you'll have them all cleared out soon?"

"It's hard to say. Had I the money I would take you from this place. Somewhere safe. But I don't, so I guess I'll have to deal with the trogs."

She smiled at Grumm. Just then, Harald came in from outside. "Grumm, friend," he said, "would you mind giving me a hand? Seems someone used up all my oil, so I've had to get more, and toting the barrel to the cellar is a two man job."
"What did you use all that oil for, anyway?" asked Irena.

(slicking back his hair to impress the ladies?)

"Cleaning," replies Grumm. "It's rather a mess down there."
Grumm will help him with the oil, but he will be wary.

As they descended the stairs, Harald asked, "So is there much left to do in the dungeon below? I'd like to close up the hole and be done with the whole lot of it."

"We've got a ways to go yet. It might be quicker to just knock the inn down and rebuild it elsewhere." He says this with a wink.

Sometime during Arven's recovery, Timorel will bring this topic up with the crew.
Until we know where those two portals lead, it's impossible to know if we've eliminated the danger to the inn. We should probably tell the town about them, or leave an "In case of TPK" letter informing them. If there is a TPK and we don't, then we're leaving the town vulnerable to an unknown and possibly quite serious danger.

OOC: As Arven heals he takes the time to write a letter to his superiors back at the monastery informing them of his progress, he describes the eldrich weirdness that he feels from the caves below, of the mystery and confusion, He must let the world know that the "Truth is out there". And while he is at it he is going to once again put in his request to borrow a holy relic of power to use against the darkness, say the monasteries "Hand or eye of Vecna" or some such similar minor trifle.
Player: I drink the potion!
DM: Are you sure you want to do that?
Player: Um, no. Maybe, Why, do you think it would be stupid?

two portals?
maybe the 1st portal we found is how they fed the crispy critter in the "throne" room. We should toss something fleshy into the portal while others are in the throne room.
