Core Rules changes git repo

Post by kmerfeld »

Hello, it bugs me not having history of the main book tracked anywhere

so here's a repo with the versions I had with the images stripped out
odt files can be saved as fodt, a flat xml file, and when you strip out images they are somewhat reasonable to store in git.
I also have a txt version as its what I actually want to see most of the time

How far back do you want to go with this? I can send you old versions.

I'm not interested in this enough to actually do it myself but I'm not against helping.

I'd love the original version and a second edition version.
I mainly want to see the new changes, and it would be fun to have versions with major changes for historical purposes

R62 was the final 1st edition print version; R75 was 2nd edition, and the final 3rd edition was R107 (but I'm sure you have that).

How do you want them delivered?

Seeing this made me smile, and I thought down the same path of including every release into the repo with tags. But then I wondered if there aren't side effects to making a repo where the content switches licenses partway through the history. It might be safer to have one repo that goes through r107 (last OGL) and another that goes from r108 onward.
I solemnly swear to fulfill the game master's oath to the best of my ability and judgment.

using a git repo, but not only for push versions but for keeping track of changes will be easier for translator go "pull" difference from commits to commits and version to another one.

I don't have a good way you sending them to me. Could you make them downloadable here?
Like accessible via url but not on the downloads page? I'm happy to get them however is easiest for you

I don't think it is poses significant risk including OGL content. My understanding is that the OGL isn't going anywhere, and the two versions could be removed if needed

Here's first edition. The ODT files were separated because early OpenOffice.org was very unstable.

Same story with 2nd edition.

Your best bet might be to merge them before putting them into your repo.

Thanks for the files! I'm less interested in directly diffing the older versions, so I'll leave them as is.

they have been added to the repo
