Two questions about Sticks to Snakes spell

Post by The Angry Monk »

1) Does the Cleric decide on the type of snakes that appear (Normal Pit Viper, Python, Sea Snake, or Cobra)?
2) Do the snakes attack immediately (the turn they are cast) or do they attack on the character's next turn?

I would probably rule:
1) Caster choice, but not a python as it has more than 4HD and that's the spell limit.
2) Cleric's turn to start attacking, if the cleric only casted the spell then they may give the attack command, after that the snakes follow the Initiative Rules.

I didn't have the snakes roll initiative during a recent game, but had them go on the Cleric's next turn after casting the spell.

That's how I'm interpreting Dimirag's suggestions, so hope I made the right call.

And Angry Monk is a GREAT player. I'm lucky to have both him and his brother in my group. Lucky to have all my players, actually.

Fight on, folks!
