4thEd Core Rules Online Reference ("SRD")

Post by jmhimara »

EDIT BY SOLOMORIAH: The SRD link at the top of this page goes to a revised copy of the hypertext described in this thread. Post comments, error reports, etc. in this thread. Thanks!

--------

You can find it here: https://jmhimara.github.io/bfrpg/

I wanted to create an updated SRD for BFRPG that was well laid out, mobile/tablet friendly, and include some interactive elements to make browsing and playing BFRPG easier.

This is still very much a work in progress, but some of the current features include
  • Up to date 4th edition text (mostly. check below)
  • Includes some of the supplemental material like classes and races
  • Easy to navigate between sections/chapters. There's an overall TOC on the left, and each chapter has their individual TOC on the right.
  • Search feature for the entire book
  • Mobile Friendly
  • Extensively hyperlinked.
  • Rudimentary Dungeon Map maker
Some planned improvements that are in progress:
  • Make sure everything is correct 4th edition text. I original adapted this from the current SRD that is on the website before realizing that it was not up to date. Then I went back and made the corrections from the PDF, but I certainly missed a bunch.
  • Improve certain aspects of layout and organization
  • Add page to be able to create a full character and save it locally on your computer. Basically an online character sheet.
  • Generally add more interactive elements to the book. My goal is to make this as usable and interactive as possible for people on the table (for those who like to play that way, of course; some people still prefer to just have a physical book on the table, and that's fine.)
I'd love to hear some feedback on the site. If you see any errors or have suggestions, please let me know. I believe I've adhered to the terms of the license in creating this, but if you see a violation, let me know and I'll change it or remove it.

Very cool! Good job.

Shouldn't we host it on this site in replacement of the 3rd edition one?

As I said, it's still a work in progress (currently adding a fully featured character sheet; very exciting!), but all the files are on github. Should be easy to just grab and host it here if needed.

I've added a new feature to the online SRD: An online character sheet.

Features include:
  • Convenient Dice Rollers
  • Easy to read and navigate format

That's awesome! I'm always happy to see new online SRDs and this one looks great. Your inclusion of interactive elements is really cool, and the ability to create and save a character sheet is super handy.

If it's all right with you, I've been looking for a guinea pig for my "I want EPUBs of RPGs" itch lately and this SRD is a perfect way for me to start playing around with the idea. You'll be credited for doing the bulk of the work of course.

Yeah, I've been a strong believer in publishing books as websites. I think it's especially ideal for RPGs, and IMO superior to PDFs.

Either way feel free to look at the github: https://github.com/jmhimara/bfrpg

All the code is under the same license as the book, so you can use as much or as little as you want.
