Agree with Boggo this is the illustration for Infernal, Eldri.Boggo wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 8:10 pmer in my FG 2 it's under Infernal, Eldri which has this description: Their blood-red skin, bright orange-red hair,Solomoriah wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 4:05 pm I cannot figure out which monster this is supposed to be. The art looks like Bruce Ripple's work, but it doesn't have his signature on it. Two of the "nearby" infernals are described as having horns, plural, while this one has a single small horn. The other "nearby" infernal is winged, horned, and its lower parts trail off into mist.
Open to suggestions here.
and single smooth horn that grows from their forehead gives them a devilish appearance.

Ack. Then the illustration that is under "Eldri" belongs to Arachnea.
And so we go another round...

Re: Basic Fantasy Field Guide Volume 2
So now I'm fixing the flow for R47, and noticed "like a displacer beast" in the description of the fell manticore.
Oops.
Since it isn't important to the monster, I've removed that clause entirely.

Yes, the image of the lady in the ballroom gown, is actually the Infernal, Arachnea.
The image of the horned devil with the weapon is for the Infernal, Malebranche, the description has, "Most malebranche will be armed with a two-tined fork that causes 2d6 damage, ... "
The image on page 59 in the Loup description is actually for the Lobizon, described as, “A Lobizon is a person cursed to become a malnourished, tailless wolf-like creature of human size; … “
The image on page 84 is for the Syrinx which is described as “ … a quadrupedal insect-like creature with four long segmented legs ending in long and sharp blade-like protrusions. … “ The Syrinx Jugernaut where the image is in the current version is described as, “ … due to its twelve extremely long limbs. Its body is made up of six interlocking segmented sections plated in thick black and reflective chitin, covered in hundreds of milky white eyes. … “
I let it pass since this is an OGLast and not fully reliant on the CC version of the Core Rules.Solomoriah wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 11:01 pm So now I'm fixing the flow for R47, and noticed "like a displacer beast" in the description of the fell manticore.

Fixed for the next release.
You misunderstand, my friend... displacer beast is Product Identity. 3E has a "displacer" without "beast" which is the kind of silliness we had to live with for the OGL.AlMan wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2023 1:55 amI let it pass since this is an OGLast and not fully reliant on the CC version of the Core Rules.Solomoriah wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 11:01 pm So now I'm fixing the flow for R47, and noticed "like a displacer beast" in the description of the fell manticore.
Crap. Will fix for next release.
Another for the next release. Tonight, maybe; game this afternoon, have to get ready.AlMan wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2023 1:55 am The image on page 84 is for the Syrinx which is described as “ … a quadrupedal insect-like creature with four long segmented legs ending in long and sharp blade-like protrusions. … “ The Syrinx Jugernaut where the image is in the current version is described as, “ … due to its twelve extremely long limbs. Looks like we'll need to revise the attacks and damage lines like we did for FG1. I can wait for the next release and then do it, or if you want it included before then.

r48 in Projects.
While the r47 PDF looks correct, while working on r48 I noticed Body Text didn't have the .12" spacing after end of paragraph. I updated that, which of course changed the layout just a *teeny* bit

Hmm. The .12 inch spacing is actually a bit more than absolutely necessary; I may have set it to .10 inch for layout purposes. I'll check it when I get a chance, probably tomorrow as it's game time right now.

Announcing!
The Basic Fantasy Field Guide Volume 2, Release 48 -- October 06, 2023
James Lemon has done the overdue rewrite of the attack and damage statistics, and made other formatting revisions, leading to this new print release candidate. Whenever both volume 1, release 44 and this book stand unchallenged for a week total each they will be deemed ready to print; it's my intention to release them together, which is why I'm linking these conditions.
