I didn't know about AI generated art or text, but I doubt that I would ever use it. I am a writer. Words are my tools. I know just how I want to use them, no more and no less. I'm not going to let a computer do it for me.
After all, (scary thought) it might do it better.
Besides, I get a kick (mild high?) out of knowing I've done a good job and the best I can.

I read a book many years ago called Tomorrow and Tomorrow that had a great chapter where the main character had woken up after centuries in cryofreeze to a world where anything involving an AI was free - you only paid if you wanted a hand crafted touch. It is interesting to think about that now. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomorro ... ow_(novel)

I use AI to whip up a character portrait but would never use the art in something I wrote.

The problem with Ai art is not distortions or apparent errors.

The problem with Ai art is that it is theft. Without the permission of the artist, it uses their art.

That’s stealing.

Didn't save the link, but read an article that at least some are now "feeding" on AI art, and the results from it are getting worse. :)

We'll very soon reach the point where the total volume of output from generative AI (images, text etc) will be larger than the entire body of works produced by actual people. Ever. Personally, I feel a bit sad about that.

Yeah I feel like that stuff is going to be everywhere and it is going to happen almost overnight.

Pixabay is a great source for CC images. However, it has pretty much been taken over by AI. Now, it's almost useless to me. I can use it for a roll20 background or an occasional NPC, but not as any kind of art reference because I don't know what original images it stole from.
