General Statement on Artificial Intelligence

Post by Solomoriah »

No AI-generated content will be accepted for publication by the Basic Fantasy Project.

This means no AI art, and no AI writing.

The Basic Fantasy Project exists to create great Old School game materials and to share them among ourselves and with the wider world. As much as we believe in sharing, we believe in creating just as much. We exist to promote and support the act, the skill, and the joy of creation, so that even if it becomes possible to create high quality material by AI, we will not knowingly accept it.

Discussions of the use of current AI software models and tools are off topic throughout this forum; since we do not allow the use of such tools in creating materials for the project, this effectively classifies any such discussions as being "political" (or at least, philosophical, in a real-world context) and thus banned.

Thank you for supporting and promoting creation as an artistic process and not as an artificial one.
Sorry for any misspelling or writing error, I am not a native English speaker

Wouldn't it be more fair to people that submit something they actually made themselves to update the first post and ban it for the Mysterious Island Contest? I must've put at least 30 hours on my submission and I am far from being done. Not sure how I feel about mine being compared to one that took someone less than an afternoon copying and pasting from Chat GPT...

You have a point. Let me offer a counterpoint: The winner is chosen by a vote of the forum members. So far only one forum member has shown a preference for AI-generated material; everyone else who has made a comment on the subject has been against it. I'm not sure that either of us needs to do anything about it right now, if you get my drift.

Also, 30 hours??? I absolutely look forward to seeing it!

I understand you point and it's a fair argument. Let's wait and see.

I don't believe anyone has requested for AI art to be accepted. AI art isn't even advanced enough to compare to real art yet, anyway.
Any pronouns
