GM note. Anyone falling into this room sustains 1d6 points of damage.

**Boxed Text**
As you regain your composure and take in your surroundings you begin to realise that you are not alone in the dark chamber, and that you can see no exits. The floor is littered with old bones, and the air is filled with the stench of ancient death
**End Boxed Text**

If entered from either door then read the following:

**Boxed Text**
The door creaks open to reveal a long forgotten chamber. The floor is littered with old bones, and the air is filled with the stench of ancient death.
**End Boxed Text**

The fight is over and the bodies lie on the floor, There is a note written in obvious code on a table. On the table with the note is a small bag of coppers, a bunch of rusty iron keys and a set of knucklebone dice.
** End Boxed text**

Bugbear: AC 15 (13), HD 3+1, #At 1 weapon, Dam 1d8+1, Mv 30' or 40' (unarmoured), Sv F3, Ml 9, XP 145 ea.

Room 2 - The Empty Storage

***Boxed text***
The doors of this room have been left open. As you walk inside, you realize that there is nothing in here besides dust and broken pieces of wooden furniture. Hence it looks like this room contained many things not too long ago but has been looted. Traces of steps are indeed still fresh in the dust. Some are small, some a much larger...
***End Boxed text***

This used to be some sort of a banquet hall that then became a storage for old pieces of furniture and rugs. Anything of value was looted by either the dwarves (see areas 26 and 27) or the bugbears (see area 15) to furnish their lair.

The looters didn't pay close attention however and there is a loose cobblestone in the southeastern corner that hides something. If the players explicitly mention that they search the floor of the room and spend at least 1d4 turns doing so, a successful find secret doors should be enough to notice the loose flagstone. Under the stone is a rotten leather case that contains a spellbook which has been magically preserved over the years. The 'Valgar's Knowledge' is embossed on the cover of the book. The spellbook contains the following spells: Light, Ventriloquism, Magic Mouth, Wizard Lock, Levitate. Additionally, a scroll of Protection from Lycanthropes has been folded and placed between the last page and the back cover.

Read whether approached via the stairs and passage from dungeon level 2, or the corridors in level 3

**Boxed Text**
The air is filled with the smell of blood, so much blood, like the aftermath of battle, or a dreadful massacre. Limbs and torsos are scattered around the room. The bodies are easily identified as Bugbears.
**End Boxed Text**

If a cleric casts speak with dead they learn that a "fell creature tore through the room, killing without uttering a sound".

GM note:
The creature which passed through was the female Human depicted in the statue in Room 14, Lvl 2 - The Lovers. She is actually a succubus who enchanted her elven "beau". She slaughtered the 4 bugbears just for sport whilst journeying down to the lower levels where her master awaits...
I actually really like the idea of a succubus. Do you plan on placing her somewhere on the third level?

Intending to place the succubus further down, she does have a master, that's a tie in for a level boss fight later in the labrynth 😂
