New User Introductions
Re: New User Introductions
I don't believe real, as his other post is likewise just as vague nothing burger statement.
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?

Hello, I'm a new user - I have played OSE and FMAG a little, but have gravitated towards BF with the easily available modules and I'm excited to get started. I'm having some trouble in running AA2 Tomb of Threy, and hoping to get some advice.
I have a wargaming channel on YouTube, but more and more interested in RPGs, particularly playing solo.

Hi, I'm Gonzalo. I found BF while searching for an alternative to 5e. I've never played TTRPGs before, but I bought the print of the 4th ed, and now I feel ready to run my first adventure for my family.

Welcome Gonzalo! Tell us a little more about yourself; this thread is meant to help identify real people, and your post is just a bit too generic for me to trust it. I don't want personal info, just tell us something... human. Favorite TV show or author or something.

It is worth noting again that the reason for this request for Intros is due to the proliferation of more and more advanced AI/bot intrusions into the Users. Thank spammers for being so devious that we have to create such extra steps. Apologies to anyone that thinks this all is "too much"; really you should see behind the scenes all the attempts to get past the gatekeepers... sometimes successfully to our dismay. It is nearly daily that we are dealing with dubious first posters.
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?

Hi everyone! I'm new here. I recently got into Basic Fantasy RPG after searching for a straightforward, classic-style game. I love the old-school vibe it brings and how open-source keeps it fresh with everyone’s contributions. Besides Basic Fantasy, I’m also a fan of classic systems like Labyrinth Lord and Swords & Wizardry.

Hello,
This my bonne fides. Been playing off and on since the Moldvay D&D Basic box set. Moved to ADD&D 1st then 2nd. Refuse to play 3rd edition on. Dabbled with other systems, GURPS, Hero, and such. I found Basic Fantasy a couple of years back and I showed my daughter's friends how to play Basic Fantasy. Time moves on and so did they. I am hoping to find a group near me or online to play BF with.

Hi, sure, I'm a bit late since I didn't see the notification. I've wanted to play ttrpgs since I was kid but no one in my circle played. Fast forward a few decades, and I convinced my wife and daughter to play. We tried 5e but I found it a bit too abstract for me to run (if that make sense), as a first time player and GM I wanted a bit more of structure to start. Looking for alternatives is how I found osr and BF. We had only one session so far of Gold in the Hills, still a lot to learn but at least we had fun.Solomoriah wrote: Sun Nov 03, 2024 1:07 pm Welcome Gonzalo! Re: New User Introductions
My third post, I didn't see this until someone pointed me to it.
I had vaguely been aware of Basic Fantasy for a long time because I had my own game "Red Box Fantasy".
I recently wanted to start a new classic campaign and opted for basic fantasy over my own system since it is really just a cleaned up BX and that was what I was looking for (Red Box Fantasy falls somewhere between Castles and Crusades and D20 in complexity).
My Westward Marches style group just finished the Keep on the Borderlands after a huge number of deaths and is now headed towards Twin Pines Mall and the Keep of Lord Kraxus out in the uncivilized wilds.
