I’m new to Basic Fantasy RPG. Certainly have read a lot of positive reviews. I’m trying to learn how to do solo RPG, and am wondering if there is a module or addendum of the rules for solo play? Began playing D&D with two guys who became my brothers-in-law; so far, no one on earth has been able to get my wife to join a game, so looks like solo play long into the future.

Welcome 8-) There's been a few posted in the Workshop. Try pasting this into your search engine of choice for some results:

Someone should make a thread in General Discussion about solo play, with links to all the Workshop threads where the solo adventures are found; I'd make it a sticky so people could find it. But I don't have time to compile the info.

Didn't realize they were there to be found. Still just dipping my toes in here, doing a bit of world-building back and forth with familiarizing myself with the rules/supplements/showcase goodness. Not sure I'd be able to compile that at any point in time soon - but that would be really cool to see. Definitely hitting up the isolation sort of thing lately offline - switching from MMOs to single-player games even, lol, though I used to love to play MMOs at times as if all the PCs were actually just NPCs, heh. I'm definitely looking at trying to set up a world with the BFRPG rules/et al acting as the underlying background for some solo adventures as a form of story weaving for myself. I'm a crap writer, overly verbose and seriously tedious, so there'll never been any novelization of my adventures - not even blog posts of them - but they're something I'm looking forward to all the same. But yeah, seeing examples of how others have done solo adventures would be helpful (lol, yeah, I'm thinking about what I just posted in the AI thread and I'm basically talking about wanting to scrape the solo adventures for data to help in my creations - /epicfacepalm).

BTW, Zarkonn...it's usually Zark, one of my three common online names going back to the early 90s. (Zark, VirusDancer, and ZeroByteDNA) being the three. Though they were used in TTRPGs through the 80s as well. Zark's a word from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. Zark's an expletive, where some see it as a replacement for the F-BOMB - "for Zark's sake" and so forth. So, there's the obvious Zark Off...but that's too obvious...so it's Zark On...Zarkonn. Just sharing another tidbit there. Mind you, I have used the name Zarkonn for Warlock type characters: Zark "Zarkonn" Kincayd/Kincaid. Kind of like instead of a Merlin, I've done a Merlik, the good guy, and his brother Kilrem, the bad guy. Because I didn't like how Nilrem worked - Kilrem's a bit more evil.

Dayum, I can be overly verbose - my sincerest apologies about all the text.

Hope everybody's been enjoying their Monday.

Howdy!

Learned of this while browsing DriveThruRPG after discovering the OSR.
BFRPG 3E, Whitebox and Cairn were one of my first physical purchases of this kind of stuff.
Only practical experience playing was three sessions of 3.5 back in the 2010's
Been meaning to give it an actual try recently, or at least an attempt at something solo.

I have been playing in Terry’s game here in Bellevue Nebraska. Which is a west marches kind of game, not so much in schedule but in play. I’ve run one session for him and will again this Wednesday. Running the Holmes example adventure.

Hi I'm Josh and have looked at basic fantasy for a short while. I love the feel of older generations of fantasy games and I decided bfrpg was perfect, well no thac0 made it perfect lol. I play solo most of the time and can't wait to start my first adventure. Hello to all and I hope we get to chat!

Ironically Thac0 was a VERY late introduction near the very end of 1e, to simplify and streamline things :D
