Trogdyltye adventure?
Trogdyltye adventure?
Anyone got a good troglodyte adventure? My players made friends with some gnolls that had been hunted by trogs. In return for helping the PCs kill off a bunch of ghouls, the PCs need to clear out some trogs for the gnolls.

Re: Trogdyltye adventure?
No.
But I am a fan of that adventure. I like putting the Sawmill close to Blackapple Brugh and Pinewood, to kind of create a mini-ravenloft.
Nothing Troglodyte specific comes to mind for me.
But, if we are keeping on point with RS, then I would go for something almost Eldritch Horror ish.
Something led the Trogs to chase out the Gnolls.
I picture some kind of profane monolith erupting from the dark corners of the earth, somewhere deep underground in what was their original den. To drive them out the PCs must venture forth into thier home domain, battling a subtle creeping madness that whispers to them in the dark as they descend to try and hallow or destroy this more arcane threat from below.
You could really create a simple short spiral type dungeon, with worsening conditions as the party goes lower. I would keep it to trogs at first, then Trogs that are "other", then start going into Illithid lite critters / oozes / and wierder critters as they go down. Also gives an excuse to add some interesting items along the way.

Level 2 of Basic Fantasy's Dungeon23 has both a Gnoll and Troglodyte's lair. It might not be what you are looking for, but could use it for inspiration.

Technically you take take any module from any TTRPG and just use BF rules .

* Has to be about troglodytes (subterranean lizard men as of 4thEd).
* Basic Fantasy RPG rules are not necessarily compatible with all other TTRPG games; indeed, extensive changes would be needed for an OpenQuest adventure, for example.

Damn you! now I have to go find out what OpenQuest is SHAKES FIST AT SKY
Weird it's an OSR version of Runequest/Basic Fantasy, but the current versions of Runequest and Basic Roleplaying (they changed the name because they always had SF and Superhero games using the rules, so it makes sense) are still pretty much the same games they were in the 70s and 80s so unlike D&D don't really have the need for someone else to take the games back there. interesting.
hmm this topic is making me want to create a procedural Subteranean Lizard Man dungeon crawl! for those times when you need a cave full of stinky lizards!
No matter where you go...there you are
Re: Trogdyltye adventure?
Aaaannd I've already started on a table of random rooms and corridors, a random table for entries and exits, and a table for room orientation... when I've done those I will start on an inhabitants table... I wasn't planning on this oops, an accidental procedural cave system generator

Re: Trogdyltye adventure?
An Adventure Module is just a story and setting . I dont see any problem taking say a DND 5e module and using Basic fantasy core rules on it or vice versaSolomoriah wrote: Thu Jan 16, 2025 9:18 amUm... huh?Escargot Pudding wrote: Thu Jan 16, 2025 7:14 am Technically you take take any module from any TTRPG and just use BF rules .
