this is the first picture I've ever seen of a cockatrice being dynamic and showing them in a way that makes it look like a moving living creature rather than posing for a portrait artist! well done indeed!

New take for the Fire Salamander.
Tried a similar pose to the original one and some of the salamander (the animal) elements as the short snout, big and rounded black eyes, and nostrils.

I spent a good amount of time deciding on the type of scale, mid-drawing I really went thru a "shouldn't have chosen these scales" phase :lol:
